women and IT is a wide area topic and a sensitive one as such. do women approach computers differently? do they have more difficulties with technology? is the female brain differently wired? are they good enough for data entry but not logic enough for programming? do they need more help?

in 20 years in desktop support i made the following anecdotal observations:
- women asking earlier for help, so it might seem they ask more often. men have the tendency to call only when they are in deep sh.t. from an IT persons view option 1 is much smarter because a lot of serious issues could be prevented with one single click.
- some people are afraid of computer and technology. these are the ones that need more moral support than technical to built confidence. they are evenly present in all ages and genders. this kind of user come across as very frighten and shy or very aggressive.
- women approaching computer differently, they rather ask "what can this thing do for me, make my life easier". men are sometimes in love with technology for the sake of it. both approaches can end in good results, the training process though should be slightly different.
- logic is present or not present. not much difference here either.
